The Municipality of Tynaarlo is situated in North Drenthe between Groningen and Assen. It consists of the places Eelde/Paterswolde, Vries and Zuidlaren.
A unique feature of this municipality is the combination of beautiful countryside, attractive villages with village greens and areas of water. There are two lakes which are ideal for water sport activities: the Paterswoldsemeer and the Zuidlaardermeer. There is also a lake in the Friescheveen nature reserve and a splash and play lake, 'De Hoornse Plas'.
